Overwatch's Next Major Patch Will be needing the full Reinstall

Normally if a major Overwatch patch is released, it takes a respectable amount of free space to download. However, Blizzard has announced today that this next major patch for Overwatch would require a thorough reinstall from the entire game.

According to Blizzard, the incoming patch will affect the fundamentals on the game client so drastically them to cannot simply patch over the existing one.

Blizzard warns people with capped internet connections and slow speeds to get ready earlier for the coming update.

The next major patch may have some pretty fundamental changes to the game client. The amount of back-end changes we’re investing in is substantial enough that individuals can’t just patch on the current content efficiently. Consequently, should the next patch equates, your client will fully reinstall itself to address these changes. Could that it isn’t suitable for people on metered connections, so hopefully this announcement can help you plan for next update.

Luckily, unlike some other modern games, Overwatch’s quality isn’t exceptionally large: only around 13GB on PC.

There isn’t yet a release date for the following major patch, but Blizzard intentions to update this thread on its website with an increase of details sometime soon.
