With Hitman 2’s Ghost Mode however, the series is finally introducing an honest multiplayer experience.
In Ghost Mode, two assassins are loaded within the same mission and given the job of is the first to lose five targets. After that, normal Hitman gameplay gets control of as each player efforts to take away their target as efficiently as quietly as possible. Both players will see one, but they otherwise result from separate realities and can’t reduce the other person. Once one player eliminates their target, their opponent must react quickly or risk a reduction. One can’t just walk up and get rid of the target while in front of witnesses though, because doing so won’t count towards their score. Since the name within the mode suggests, one has to remain a ghost in order to win.
